I believe that with hardwork and a dint of providence, we can all make it.
I believe that no one was made to fail.
I believe in the sanctity of human life and its endless possibilities.
I believe we can all make difference in our nation.
I believe the future lies in our individual decisions, whether +ve or -ve.
I belive the future is bright!

When my autobiography is released and the story of my life is told, there are some individuals who will be prominent in the plots. One of such is Adeniyi Oladeji, I refer to him as more than a friend ‘cos we have been together for a long time. I look back to about 13 years ago as SS1 students at School of Science Ile-Ife; we were then in the same class. We have come a long way even during our undergraduate days at OAU Ile-Ife when we were in the same faculty, attended the same fellowship and stayed together most of the time.
He is someone that I fight with but we also bond a lot, we have suffered together, faced funny and unfunny situations at times, enjoyed together, and the list goes on. Why am I standing up for this champion? Yes did I mention that we also work for the same company, well until some few days back when he stepped out of Vmobile (Now Celtel Nigeria). I have to stand up for him because he is one guy who’s got guts and a go getter. He is also an incurable optimist who believes so much in himself and his dream. With him by your side, you can never fear any lofty goal you covet.
This is to wish my guy great times ahead as he faces a whole new terrain and to congratulate him on his birthday tomorrow August 19 2006 as he turns (wow e ti dagba o baba)…… I know that your future is bright and I respect your guts. Ride on man and enjoy the smooth transition to the top.
Tomorrow Saturday, 12th of August will by God’s grace be spent in the ancient town of Ile-Ife. The event is the Final Year Brethren dinner party of my beloved fellowship – Evangelical Christian Union. In 2001, my set in the fellowship had the same kind of dinner to thank God for sparing our lives through the years spent in that wonderful environment – one could not but remember the July 10 1999 episode when cultists killed 5 students.
I almost missed our FYB dinner due to some political complexities going on at that time on campus. I used to be a passionate politician in those days with a difference- I was one of the few Christian boys who thought that politics was not a birthright for thugs and imbeciles and at that period I was the campaign manager of the popular “have u eaten today”. We were almost winning but the DSM of those days will have nothing of it, so the election was disrupted, our supporters beaten and sent to the hospitals; while a search was on to get me at all cost. So, attending the dinner was out of it ‘cos I do not want the thugs to come and disrupt the dinner as I was in hiding at that time.
But luck shined on me that day in a very significant way. We had a Judicial council (Yap, I was a member of the third arm of govt) seating on that day and the plan was to get me from there. I actually decided to go after I was promised security throughout the seating. Those guys are very clever and they had another plan for me – the plan did not work and I actually exposed them so much that we reached a compromise that made me a free man with the promise that I will not be stalked again. I won’t tell you what I did to warrant that kind of compromise for those who understand DSM in Ife but I will tell the full story one day – which I can promise you.
So I went majestically to the dinner and we had a nice time really. I look back and I am happy that God has been so faithful and done us good. The future looks brighter and clearer. I hope and pray that the guys we will be celebrating with tomorrow will understand what it takes to be relevant in the larger playground that is quite different from the campus stereotype they are used to. One of the aims of getting some of use to Ife tomorrow is to achieve this goal of sharing with them the few things we have come to appreciate as requisite ingredients of making a difference to life.
We will get there!
Elections are close again, assassinations have started and a lot of money is needed to fuel their evil deeds. The average Nigerian has been battered to the level that they can sell their soul and future including their children’s’ future for a pittance. I am not ready to go into that today but something interesting happened to a colleague recently that made me shudder.
She was rushing to the office and out of convention boarded a taxi that already had 3 passengers. I do not really want to go into graphic details but the interesting part is that the driver supposedly found out that one of the passengers (A female) had bales of dollars in her bag sitting inside the boot. The woman confessed that she stole the money from her boyfriend who tried forcing her to sleep with a dog and that the money was charmed. The consensus was that they should find a pastor to bless the money for them before sharing it, the only person oppossing the move and anxious to get out of the taxi was my colleague. They even had the guts to ask her if it was not money she was going to make in her office ![]()
She practically fought her way out of the taxi and I still do not know what to think…….. Are they ritualists or swindlers?
I guess someone can provide us the answer.
Please as a security tip, these are bad times and only God can truly protect us but be careful too. It is not safe to share taxis with people and let’s be more security conscious.
On a lighter note, I have a groove tonight as my office just changed our brand to an international brand….. So we say welcome to our world!
I sometimes wonder if there can ever be a week in the world without strife, war, killings, injustice, etc…… I think not. Last week witnessed a reminder of the bad times again in Nigeria, a certain diversion from the Middle East crisis – the death of Funsho Williams, former Lagos State Commissioner for works and PDP Guber candidate for the 2003 Lagos seat. If there is anything I know about this man, he is the biggest threat to anyone aspiring to win the ticket of his party and none of the other contestants have gathered the kind of momentum he has with his political clique.
It therefore came as a big shock when I got to know about his assassination – a brutal one judging from the autopsy and police reports. I am really afraid for this country and I hope this is not going to be a chain reaction as elections are just a few months away. The reality is that we have all lost faith in the ability of the Nigerian Police Force to unravel the mysteries; let’s not forget that a whole minister of justice was killed and till now the murder remains unsolved. There are countless souls crying out for justice, people killed without bringing anybody to book but let the killers not rejoice ‘cos even if men do not see them; the all important and ever-present God does! No evil doer will go unpunished.
These murders will surely be avenged very soon, not just those killed by assassins’ bullets or daggers, but the poor men who daily die from bad health infrastructures, bad roads, corruption from high places, etc. The time is very near and all participants of Project Spoil Nigeria will suffer.
God is about to clean this country.
